Good idea. Could get interesting! Out of interest, what holder do you use, i have an Iphone 4, think i remember you saying you had one? If you watch my video in the thread listed above, you will see my holder is bloody awful!!!

 

That's the kind of thing I usually encounter, every trip usually. Personally I would say that is both reckless driving and driving without due care and am very impressed that the police want a copy and are going to go speak with the driver about his inconsiderate driving. Just a small "discrepancy"....the car was a passat, not a golf

Also kudos for keeping your cool as I would have been going beserk, especially had I had my 4 month old son in the car

I ordered the Navigon holder, its not perfect as it does slightly obscure the top left of the video but the sucker mount is rock solid. the downside is the dashboard reflection, I did look at a polarizing lens fitted to the mount to lessen the glare but this might create a problem in low light.
The kit comes with a cigarette lighter charger and lead which I have soldered and hardwired into the overhead courtesy light.

A voltage regulator limiting voltage to 5v must be used or you will fry your iPhone

I have spoken to the developer of the app tonight and he has promised some updates to customise the layout and cure the cropping issue when videos are exported.

Got a load of high beam and abuse from the C2 driver, I thought it was safe anyway :/

 

Unsure what this motorbike was playing at, gave me a confused look when I stopped.

Hello Peter,
The app will work and record video when iPhone is in portrait mode but I'm not sure if this affects the wide angle, all my footage is shot in landscape mode.

You know what is typical though. The one time I decided not to bother with this since I got it and I get 3 cretins all within the space of a 10 mile journey!!! Maybe this could become the next monthly competition - see who can capture the most awful piece of driving on camera

Got mine delivered today, very impressed with the quality of the kit up to now, i couldnt for the lif eof me get the 2 pieces to fit together though, and then was frustrated with the camera showing half of the holder in the view, then i noticed you had your the other way round lol!!! I will do some footage tomorrow or over the weekend and upload, ready for Neil to get some payback!!

 

I thought it was just mine. I had to file the 2 ends of the holder clip to get it to snap together. Don't force it or it might break.

 

^^^ you put the top clip in first, but it doesnt feel right, you have to move it backwards and forwards then it fits perfectly. I didnt do any filing

 

Well thanks for the info Rick and Mal as I ordered mine today so I know what to do when it arrives!!

 

It really is a bit of a pain in the ar$e to connect the window mount and the cradle. It will only go in one way and you really have to fiddle about with it. I will download the app later on, although i will do the majority of my videoing on the normal HD Video camera.

 

Indeed the black car should give way to traffic to his right.
Likewise one should travel clockwise around a roundabout, had Jonsen done this he would probably have driven around the back of the black car.........just.

We are ,of course, assuming Jonsen is the epitome of correct lawful driving and that he wasn't indicating to turn left and changing his mind at the last minute whilst on his mobile and lighting up a ***. For all We know of this, the black car probably has a video on some 'black car drivers forum' showing a dashcam incident of stupid behaviour of a Mondeo doing exactly that.

oh yeh, quite agree about driving "round" the roundabout, but then to be fair I never do that unless its got a distinct hump in the middle. Yes, yes, its in the highway code, but if I know Im not going to cause an issue by doing so, then why take the long route?. In Jonsens case, it was still a poor decision by the black car. Why risk blocking the road when theres another car coming.

I dont mean any offence to anyone, and I dont wanna go off topic too much, but judging other peoples driving is fun though lol. In reality, all of the vids on here are mundane stuff. I've seen far worse!!

The black cars exit was blocked, but he still drove onto the roundabout which was a bit twattish.

Just out of interest Rambo, if wasn't going to cause an issue, and it is also in the highway code, would you drive the wrong way down a dual carriageway because it was a shorter distance ?
I'm just trying to gauge where the benchmark of doing 'whatever you feel like' is ?

I'll allow you the holier than though status, just as long as you've never parked against the flow of traffic, have always switched off your engine and headlights etc etc etc bla bla.

although as it happens, I've always done that, infact I try and adhere to everything sensible in the highway code, except for when I go across the centre of a deserted mini roundabout of course
