#426016 Just Saying Hello

Posted by peterex on 08 March 2020 - 10:08 AM

Hi guy's I just thought I would pop in an say hello again. Healthwise not too bad for an oldie. Still got the Beemer and loving it almost as much as I did the Mondy--------almost!   I don't do much mileage these days but since the car manual say's in so many words I should give it the beans now and again just to take care of the DPF I naturally comply----officer. :}  :}

I've tried to find the old joke thread I started years ago but I can'tm so I've posted one I received a few days ago by email on here.

There's a lot of truth in it but for a car buff there is something missing. Can you see what it should be?

Enjoy.  :banana:

Thanks for all your best wishes lads I hope everybody had a good Xmas? I know I haven't been around for ages but I still take an interest in Fords. I've seen one or two ST Mondy's about locally two very nice late ones in "Perforation Blue". They'd make nice keepers. There is no doubt about it we got a lot of car with them. Just about everything on my Beemer was an optional extra, luckily mine was quite well equipped when I bought it. It would have been nice to have had indicators but as we all know few Beemers have them so it's not really necessary. :}  :}  :}  :banana:

Hi all thanks for you concern lads I'm fine---older and slower but fine..

I haven't been a Ford owner for 51/2 years. I was sad to leave the brand after all the years I owned Fords but I fancied a change and found a nice secondhand Beemer 330D SE. Of course the first thing was to have it slightly breathed on so I got a local tuning firm to do a gentle tweak. It looks bog standard still so doesn't attract much attention, just how I like my motors. I was telling Rick this could be a keeper I can't see me having another change now.

I still look at the Ford tuning mags in smiths and in fact any other mags on tuning but I rarely buy them these days being in my 80's I wouldn't want to be recognized as a boy racer!  :}  :}  :}  :banana:

Thanks Neil and all after 12 days of being stuck indoors we seem to be getting a touch better. Had to take the Beemer out for an appointment today. 60 miles across Norfolkshires finest roads seemed to do the trick. Even the car feels better!  :}  :}  :}  :driving:

Hi Peter, Happy New Year to you too. It's been a couple of years or more since I (niligan) was on here last. So long I could no longer get my log in details to work and have had to rejoin under a new name. Sorry to hear Mrs P and yourself have been a bit under the weather. Wrap up warm and take care when you do venture out.
I have had a cold for several weeks now, feeling fine in myself but unable to shake off an endless supply of foul tasting snot.
I haven't looked but I assume you are still posting your jokes.

Hi Neil  I look in now and again on the Forum but not many of us oldies still around so I rarely post any jokes. Anyway the're so old they've got cobwebs on! :}  :}

Yep this flu thingy is a sod to throw off it must be my age I've never had a dose as bad as this one!  I see you have the RS now, did you bother with any mods or is it enough as standard?

I don't plan any more for the Beemer although its very tempting. It's currently in a pretty mild state of tune but enough for a bit of fun now and again.

Anyway while I'm on, here's wishing everyone on the Forum a very happy New Year. Drive carefully------and only fast when conditions allow! :driving:  :L

A bit late for Xmas greasings so here's wishing everyone a Happy and Preposterous New Year! :}

Mrs P and myself missed Xmas entirely as we had/still have this God awful Flu that's doing the rounds!  I'm finding out that as "oldies" we just can't cope with illness as we did years ago. It's now 9 days since I last left the house but I have to make the effort today. I just hope the old Beemer doesn't play up. I soon get withdrawal symptoms if I don't get my driving fix! :driving:  :L

Awesome motor Mal that's for sure but a daily runner? I think you would soon regret that mate. where on earth would you use that performance in the daily grind! I can't use all I've got under the bonnet which is a lot less than the Merc but it's certainly much cheaper to run!

Oh well I suppose you pay's your money etc etc.

BTW I'm having a old life crisis!  :}  :}  :}  :}  :L  :driving:

You're never too old to be a boy racer Peter, although you may now have to call yourself an 'ole boy racer'!  :}  :L  :}

More like a bloody "old codger" racer Ross!  I think somewhere along the line I must have blinked and lost a few years. I can't believe I'll be (and I'm ashamed to admit it) 79 in 4 weeks time and still reading tuning mags FFS!  :blush:  :blush:  :driving:  :banana:

Mind you I do leave the porn mags on the top shelf---don't see much need for 'em anymore! :}  :}

Yes I think you're right Ben facebook has really taken off for me. I first joined about 7 years ago and eventually found it a pain. But I re activated my account earlier this year and found it more user friendly. I'm now in several groups of interest to me and it's great. I've met and made contact with a great many people I knew in the RAF and the years have just rolled away! I'm also a member of one or two Forums, like this one the activity has dropped off but we still keep going! The main thing is at least we are communicating and that's what counts.

While I have no intention of doing more tuning on my Beemer I still have an interest in all tuning. I still have a look at Fast Ford and Performance Ford now and again and other magazines. Likewise I look on the tuning websites too.I'm a bit too old now to be a boy racer although just now and again I still give it the beans!  :}  :}  :}  :driving:

I tried to organise a local meet and a run ending at a local pub a few years back but there were no takers. We had several good meets initially but then things faded off which was a shame,  But times change and things move on. Many people myself included moved away from Ford for various reasons, so maybe we don't have so much in common anymore. But they were good times while they lasted. :driving:  :L

#359282 Diesel-Powered Focus St Will Rival Golf Gtd

Posted by peterex on 23 March 2014 - 09:40 AM

Focus has only been around since 1999. Golf has been around since 1974

Focus is currently the top selling vehicle in the world. In 2013 it sold approx. 1.1 million units The Golf came in at 7th with approx. 720,000 units

:yawn: I sense boredom coming on! :kaffeetrinker_2:  :stir:

8 seconds to 60?! Not good enough for an ST badge in my opinion. An ST should be the pinnacle of the Focus range, but 1.6 Ecoboost Zetec S is quicker than the diesel ST and it's only 19bhp more than the diesel Zetec S. All in all not enough to warrant an ST badge.

0-60 isn't everything.  Sure it sounds good down the pub but give me the in gear punch everytime for normal road driving. If Fraud can get all that torque under control I'm certain it will deserve the ST badge. As for the pinnacle of the Focus range surely that's the RS not the ST?

#336880 New Fiesta St And Focus St Receive Mountune Upgrades

Posted by peterex on 17 July 2013 - 07:50 AM

I'm starting to think Focus ZETEC S  180 with Mountune as a possible replacement for ET when the time comes.  For various reasons I don't think the ST would be suitable for me and Mrs P,  but the Zetec seems to fit the bill with suitable option packs. Obviously not such a road burner as the ST but no slouch either! :L
