Me too, back then I was a slim chap with a full head of hair...now I'm balding fat f**k, hence the C63 lol

You subject to that satellite broadband sh1te mate? My first taste of that was last week at the Loch Maree Hotel...dayum, I had to resort to using pron GIFs from the late 90s!!!

Am listening to Big Country's "Chance" mate...an apt reunion song I reckon!

Ah yes, I have a similar box in the C63. 7 Speed dual clutch thingy with paddles, but the paddle operation isn't that good as there is quite a delay between when you click the paddle and the gear change. However, I either drive in auto Comfort mode or Sports+ mode so never have a need for the paddles. I think the box is much improved for the W205 C63.

I was looking at the pics of your old Mk3 ST, the ones Archers sent you and I noticed they cleaned yours lol...they hardly touched mine when I went to pick it up.

You bought a 2nd ST I remember?

Yeah the second one was an absolute lemon , thankfully it was returned to the dealership and I got my money back. Went to work overseas and then ended up buying a Mk4.5 TXS from the Ford garage in Coalford. Was another Ford direct car and as good if not better than the first ST. The new one is not as sharp in the handling dept as the Mk 4.5 but used to it now :-) :woot: GF likes the heated seats though lol

I seemed to remember some issues with it - did it have engine problems or something like that? And was it a Ford Direct car? Seem to remember you had the reg plate in your siggy as a warning to others? May have got that wrong mate.

No not a Ford direct car. Spoke to a very shady ex owner and came to a conclusion it had had a rough life so it went back. They had tried to fix a paint issue on the tailgate .....my grandson could have done a better job. It was Evans Halshaw in Edinburgh .......I wouldn't buy a coffee from them now

It can be mate, but the electronics soon kick in to keep it on the straight and narrow. There's actually 3 levels of ESP: On, sort of on and off...one does not venture to "off"...lol

Believe it or not, mine is the "base model" C63. So that's no Limited Slip Diff (I sh1t you not) and no ceramic brakes (which I'm glad of lol). Discs on mine are regular big a$$ steels which are cheap as chips from Merc, as are the pads. I could get an LSD fitted but I don't see the point as I don't track it or drive like a nut. In fact, the only options on mine are the 19" rims, rear tints and the split red/black interior...everything else is base, which is still quite a lot of toys lol.

However, being the last of the naturally aspirated V8 AMGs (6.2 Litre), the power is awesome for an NA engine...but the exhaust noise is, as standard, f-ing awesome. Always turns heads. Even in comfort mode and when pottering around town, it has that yank muscle car V8 burble.

I was looking at getting a Mustang, but the way I was treated by Ford with the 220 made me think that it was time to leave Ford. I was annoyed that they shifted the goalposts when the alloys corroded "sorry, that's cosmetics which isn't covered by the Ford Direct warranty" and then the same when the Denso failed "sorry, that's cosmetics".

I have to admit that with the ever so small issues I've flagged up with the C63, Merc have jumped on it and fixed such issues, no arguments and no debates - they just do it. Mind you, I bought the car from a Merc owned dealership and always take it back to them for servicing aka Mercedes Benz Retail. Might be a different story with the franchises.

I tried to organise a local meet and a run ending at a local pub a few years back but there were no takers. We had several good meets initially but then things faded off which was a shame,  But times change and things move on. Many people myself included moved away from Ford for various reasons, so maybe we don't have so much in common anymore. But they were good times while they lasted. :driving:  :L
