I guess that makes the ST170 a poormans ST225...

And yes :laugher: Mine is an old company car.

And possibly the STTDCI is getting popular because it's the most practical?

No because when the ST170 was new you couldn't get the ST(225). Its a different kettle of fish but I am getting one when I have finished with my ST170 :driving:

If you want to buy a new mondeo you have a choice the ST220 which has been available to anyone looking a ST TDCI new. They tried it with the ST170 they bought out the Focus Sport (ST170 fog lights 17inch wheels and similar seats but it had 115bhp TDCI engine in it with no extra power. The ST170, ST220. ST(225) all come with their own engine which is special to that car the ST TDCI looks like an ST220 but come with the 2.2 lump you get in the reps Ghia x etc.

I suggest you do somre research before posting that!

The ST220 V6 lump has been around in America for ages! The version we get here has a few new bits here and there, but it's basically an old V6 lump... But I suspect I may be confusing another Ford V6.

The ST225 has the Volvo T5 engine that has been used for centuries! It's nothing special at all, just possibly a detune in power, or uptune (depending on which Volvo T5 variant)

Is the ST170 a 4 pot turbo? As that might be the ONLY unique engine. :thumb:

no thats correct whatever the origin of the 3.0v6 the ST220 is the only mondeo you get it in! the 2.2 is available in several models giving that power to a ghia x driver etc!! u cant get a 220 lump in a the ghia x u only get a 2.5 V6!!

Thats my point!! :)

the ST170 is a reworked 2.0 zetec engine with VVT etc but its naturely aspirated!!

Sorry but what a load of !!!!!

You can get the 3.0 V6 in diffrent Mondeos. They may have been detuned to 200ps but it it is still the same basic 3.0 and not the 2.5l as you claim.

Check the details before posting!!!!!!!

I do about 200-250 miles a week in the 200 estate and love every minute of it.

SOrry but after driving the Mk3 ST's I still love the 200 and wont be changing it for a while.
