Hi

To provide a durable finish on aluminium components you would apply an etching primer as the first stage. This is why a fully painted or powder coated wheel will survive much longer.

Unfortunately, these primers are not available in clear form. Clear coat onto a machined surface finished by either paint or powder coat is really handicapped in terms of durability without this key foundation.

There are lacquers available with etching properties, you can also get clear adhesion promoter that can be applied first.

Any laquer with etching propertys will surely remove the shine from the diamond cut?

Ohhh my days, that is one amazing job.
I'd love to do mine but im kinda scared to put sand paper to paint..
One day i'll pluck up the courage to do it..

By the fact that etching paints "eat" into the surface to get good adhesion.

Is it just me who can't see these images anymore? I am doing my own ST wheels in mirror polish at the moment and wanted to see how they compare...
