* All 101 right-hand drive Ford Focus RS500 models sold out at £35,450 each
* Ford-approved engine upgrade for new and existing Focus RS owners, to meet unprecedented demand
* Peak output boosted to 350PS and 460Nm of torque – matches RS500
* Engine modifications developed in partnership with Mountune Performance
* Full testing and durability programme ensures no impact on standard Ford warranty
With all 101 Ford Focus RS500 models snapped up by UK fast Ford fans within days of launch, Ford is responding to the intense customer demand with an officially-approved Focus RS performance upgrade kit.
Ford Focus RS owners can now give their ‘regular’ 305PS superhatch an extra 45PS and 20Nm of torque.
This allows those who could not secure one of Ford’s ultra-limited-edition, matt black RS500s to upgrade any latest-generation RS to match the power – if not the exclusivity – of Ford’s fastest-ever Focus road car.
Developed by Ford Team RS, in partnership with Mountune Performance (MP) and offering similar performance to the RS500, the MP350 RS upgrade will be launched through selected Ford dealers across the UK.
Comprising a larger intercooler and air filter box, larger diameter exhaust downpipe and a higher-capacity fuel pump, along with uprated software calibration, it remains the only officially-approved Focus RS upgrade package.
Mark Simpson, Ford Britain marketing director, said: “Focus RS500 has raised the Ford performance bar in every way – it’s the fastest-selling model in Ford’s UK history, with five times more customers than we had cars for. The MP350 kit has been developed to meet some of this additional demand and allow enthusiasts with cars in standard tune to enjoy even greater performance, without endangering their warranty. If you couldn’t get an RS500, which sold out within seven days, this is the next best thing.”
Following the rush for an exclusive RS500 in the last days of March, Ford is allocating the UK's 101 right-hand drive versions to dealerships in proportion with their share of overall Ford Focus RS sales.
The MP350 RS upgrade kit is £1,995, including VAT. Further details are at www.mountuneperformance.com.

As Ford of Britain enters its 99th year the company's historical fleet is celebrating its own milestone – securing its 100th vehicle.
The new Ford Focus RS, launched to critical acclaim during 2009, is the latest addition to the Essex-based Ford Heritage Collection. The Focus RS will join such icons as the original 1970 London to Mexico winning Escort, one of only seven GT70 cars ever built and Sir Jackie Stewart's 1970 March 701, in which he won the Spanish grand prix. The Collection also includes many fine examples of standard road cars.
The Ford Heritage Collection, which is used regularly by media and Ford dealers, has enjoyed a busy 2009. Several of the vehicles were on display in May as the Ford Dagenham estate celebrated its 80th anniversary, and guests were able to drive a Model AA truck similar to the first vehicle driven off the line at Dagenham in 1931.
During the summer, heritage vehicles added to the appeal of classic motor racing with two original GT40 models acting as course cars at the Goodwood Revival. The 40th anniversary of the Capri saw renewed interest in the Collection's three Capris, including a rare Ferguson four-wheel drive, 3.0-litre V6, automatic.
As the motorsport season drew to a close WRC driver Mikko Hirvonen took a well deserved rest by visiting the Collection's workshop at Dagenham and enjoying a driving lesson in a 1915 Model T.
Looking forward to 2010 and anniversaries for the Escort Mexico, Escort XR3i and Cortina Mk III, heritage fleet administrator, John Nevill, said: "We are very proud that this is a working collection and look forward to making full use of its 100th vehicle, the Ford Focus RS, next year. The Focus RS joins some very special cars and proves you're never too young to be a classic."

Ford cars respond to spoken commands to help driver safety and convenience.
Ford drivers can change the radio station, adjust the climate control or even control the satellite navigation system without taking their eyes off the road or hands off the wheel.
Ford's Voice Control enhances driving all Ford models in a number of ways. For example, stating a few simple commands enables a phone number to be selected and dialled by a bonded mobile phone with Bluetooth®.
Ford's Voice Control technology also allows drivers to operate their radio and CD system, adjust the climate control and select a route on the satnav system.
Markus Pazina, Ford navigation and connectivity engineer, said: “We have designed Ford Voice Control to be easy and intuitive to use. Drivers need to remember just a few simple commands, like ‘phone’ or ‘dial name’, and the system guides them step-by-step.”
Ford Voice Control uses powerful voice recognition software which is designed to accommodate a wide range of different speech types and regional accents. It does not require any ‘teaching’ to learn the driver’s voice characteristics.
To simplify Voice Control operation, drivers can create personal ‘voice tags’ to recall frequently dialled numbers or favourite radio stations. Once these tags have been recorded, the system will recognise the name and select the required phone number or station frequency without the need for further information.
An easy-to-use guide to the most common voice commands and the hands-free phone functions can be found under Manual at www.ford-mobile-connectivity.com.

Ford Focus RS has won the "sporting" category at the 12th annual Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) Awards in St Andrew's, Scotland.
A jury of 17 Scottish automotive journalists chose the Ford Focus RS against a short list of eight contenders that included the Audi R8 V10, Nissan 370Z, and Volkswagen Golf GTi.
President of the ASMW, Bill Caven, presented the award and commented: "Ford has a great history with the Scottish Car of the Year awards and once again is a winner with their Focus RS. Its combination of power, poise and affordability makes it a worthy class winner."
He added: "The Ford Focus was the winner at the inaugural awards in 1998 and Ford has had winners almost every year, proving that Ford cars deliver what the Scottish market demands."
On receiving the award, Ian Slater, Vice-President Communications and Public Affairs for Ford of Europe, said: "This is great news for the Focus RS and testament to the skill and enthusiasm of our engineers. In such a competitive environment it's great to see performance and value recognised in this way."

We're currently having some server problems which we're trying to resolve. We might need to swap around some hardware, so there might well be some unplanned downtime. If the site disappears for a few hours, you know the reason why

Estate art - the UK's first off-the-shelf ST220 estate system from JP Exhausts
- UK's first off-the-shelf ST220 estate sports exhaust
- Free fitting
- £50 off for first five readers
- Incredible quality
- Joins JP's range of ST220 saloon and hatch systems
The UK's first off-the-shelf sports exhaust system for Ford's fantastic ST220 estate has finally arrived, courtesy of JP Exhausts.
The fully-stainless ST220 estate system follows hot on the heels of the respected exhaust manufacturer's recently-launched ST220 saloon/hatch system - which are proving so popular that several ST220 owners have already removed systems from other highly-regarded brands in order to fit the JP product.
Like the saloon/hatch system, the high-performance estate exhaust features incredible quality, a purposefully sporty V6 sound and subtle OE-plus styling with discreetly enlarged twin tailpipes.
The price of this amazing-quality ST220 estate exhaust system is only £499.99 including VAT and fitting or delivery*.
JP's high-specification ST220 estate exhaust has been precision-tuned for superb sound quality and performance. Its twin standard-style 3.5in tailpipes let out a deep growl under hard acceleration yet allow for refined cruising at motorway speeds.
Available to fit Mondeo ST220 (3.0 V6 petrol) estates built from 2002 to 2007, the JP Exhausts cat-back system is engineered from large-bore Grade 304 stainless steel tubing with stainless 8mm flanges. For maximum flow, the ST220 estate system runs twin 2in/50.8mm pipes (aftermarket Mondeo V6 exhausts generally go straight into one pipe) before merging into one 2.5in/63.5mm tube.
From there it splits into a pair of polished stainless steel back boxes, each featuring stylish and discreet OE-plus 3.5in (88.9mm) slash-cut inverted tailpipes.
Expertly manufactured in the UK by well-respected exhaust engineers, the ST220 estate system's build quality is nothing short of spectacular. Despite its low price, this exhaust's specification features all the hallmarks of a bespoke or motorsport application, including mandrel bends, tube-to-tube merge collectors (individual tubes carefully cut and welded together, rather than basic pressed-steel pieces) for optimum gas flow, top-notch pulse TIG welds, flange joints for easy fitting and removal, plus double-skinned silencers. The purchaser benefits from a full lifetime warranty.
The JP Exhausts ST220 estate system provides noticeable improvements in driveability, allowing for effortless acceleration and an enhanced experience behind the wheel.
JP Exhausts will soon be adding further ST exhaust systems to its range of fast Ford products. Please keep an eye out for further details.
The Ford Mondeo ST220 estate exhaust system is available from:
