I was wandering through a car park recently when I spotted a very smart looking motor I didn't recognise so I had a quick look and was gobsmacked to see a Ford badge on it!  I don't know what the colour is called but it was the new mondy STline in "perforation " Blue!

What a great looking motor in my opinion. I'm not about to buy one but if I did it would be a diesel so what would be the best spec and the best engine to buy?

Sadly it wouldn't go in my garage-----------

Thinks---s'pose I could leave it on the drvie though?   :}  :}  :}

I think it may have been deep impact blue Peter. The spec on the STline is quite poor compared to other higher spec MK5 models.

OK Ray thanks for that. I was just curious because I thought it was  a great looker on the outside!

Sorry to say I'm not well up on the latest Ford range now.  :blush:  :blush:

Im not either Peter :)
I only know what ive seen in various threads. One of the most common complaints is that some extras arent available as options on the STline. This almost seems to guarantee the spec stays lower than the standard higher trim levels.

Hi Mal thanks for the pic your motor looks very nice as usual! What's the spec engine wise and have you got any mods?

Hello Peter, it's a 2.0 EcoBoost with full automatic box (torque converter instead of DSG)
It was used as the development car for the Bluefin remap which took two visits and 6 days to complete coding on the new Ford cyclone firmware.
It is fitted with a CP-e Intercooler which was the first to be exported to the UK from its manufacturing plant in Maryland USA.
It also has the Eibach Pro-Line lowered springs fitted which had to be ordered in from Germany, at some point I will fit the Bilstein shocks but they were not available when springs originally fitted.
It also has a Turbosmart Billeted blow off valve (BOV) to replace the standard plastic & rubber Ford version.
It goes very well indeed and the pickup is very rapid when you hit the loud pedal, the torque steer is much more prominent after the Bluefin but controllable when you know it's coming.
MPG wise I get around 26mpg which isn't bad for such a large bus with a recorded 0-60 timed run averaging 6.2secs.
I had hoped to replace the very restrictive down pipe but all the tosspot UK manufacturers aren't interested in such a low volume product, hence I may have to import once again from the USA. But even this can be hit & miss as differences between the Fusion and Mondeo's.

After doing all the dash modifications using ForScan I have to say it's probably the best Mondeo I have owned and something I enjoy driving, I do miss the mpg of the oil burners and the torque rush in 3rd gear but my EcoBoost pulls all the way to 3 figures with no loss of boost so I'm happy.

I Installed a Blackvue 650s 2 channel dashcam at the weekend and very impressed with the setup and iPhone integration.

I was going to upload a photo but the website software keeps telling even after editing and resizing several times that the file is to large..

Thanks for all that Mal somehow I had a suspicion it might not be standard!  :}  :}  :}

You're right, for a big motor  the acceleration time is very good. Pity about the fuel consumption but you can't expect to match a derv and depending on your annual miieage does it matter?

Talking about an auto box, I've always gone for a manual. I waited a while to find my Beemer as manuals are a little bit rare. Having said that my son has an Audi A4 Derv with an autobox and I'm amazed how smooth it is and how well it picks up!

I've had my Beemer for 3 years now and I'm beginning to think maybe it would have been better with auto. :blush:

Dash Mods:

Digital Speedo

Live TPMS reading

Motion Locking

Accessory Timeout set to 15 minutes

Their are more settings available like Fuel history and Cross Traffic Alert but havent had time to fully test them yet, to busy doing DIY on the house.

Also Upgraded my DOD LS430W for a BlackVue 2 channel.

Oooooh tell me more....miss the fact you can't read tyre pressures as in the old system. I did ask the local dealer if it was a "fault" but was told no the new system doesn't show the individual tyre pressures.

Is it an easy "mod" to do ?

All you need is a Modified ELM and ForScan loaded on a laptop then it's just changing a few blocks in the as built module.

Did you use the Bluetooth or USB unit Mal? Probably better with the USB unit

I have the USB version from the link posted.
The modified ELM is a must have for any Mondeo owner as this interface coupled with ForScan can diagnose and modify modules and settings on par with dealer level equipment.
I also own a Genuine Delphi DS150e VCI running the latest 2017.3 software and the ELM is always in my toolbox which shows how good it is.
