Hi was just wondering if I use a bluefin on my st220 if I then at a later date get a catback (which is in my plans) will it mess with the map? Or does that really only count with custom maps?
Nope it counts with any map. Really you need to do other mods first, Bluefin or whatever SC do for the 220 will be set up for the standard car. Mapping alone won't do too much except up in the high rev range. To get the best performance I would do the other mods first then go for a custom map and a RR session.
BTW don't expect the same percentage gains as you get on a Turbo diesel or a turbo petrol engine..
Look out for a Dreamscience unit, with a few 'lives' left on it.
Get your mods done first, exhaust, cais (cold air induction system) then stick the Dreamscience unit in. Upload 98 race map, and your away.
I run this set up, and got 248bhp on the Dreamscience rolling road.
Good luck.
Going great Peter, only did around 1,000 miles last year, only comes out in the dry, or for a show or meet. Put away now until spring!
Heard you have strayed
Ah well, just do me a favour, use your indicators!! Be a first for a Bmw drive
Ha Ha ha! Indicators what indicators Andy? Everything on a Beemer seems to be an optiomal extra mate! You don't realise how well spec'ed the old Mondy is until you see the opposition!
Seriously some little niggles about losing things I was used to, but all is forgiven when I drive it! It suites me in that it looks like a mundane 320d but if I floor it boy does it take off! I'm still toying with the idea of having it chipped by SC. :driving: :L
Nope not on this version Andy it needs an actual chip in the ECU. About the same cost as Bluefin and takes it from 245 to 280+ BHP with absolutely shed loads of torque! As standard it does 0-60 in less than 6 seconds you can imagine the performance and that's just with a chip! I think with all the mods they get over 330BHp in a car the same size as a Focus---and rear wheel drive! I doubt the tyres last very long though! :} :} :}
