I have a mk3 2.0 tdci with a remap witch is 178 bhp I hope that they have sorted out the torque steer and the poor front end grip when under hard acceleration.

8 seconds to 60?! Not good enough for an ST badge in my opinion. An ST should be the pinnacle of the Focus range, but 1.6 Ecoboost Zetec S is quicker than the diesel ST and it's only 19bhp more than the diesel Zetec S. All in all not enough to warrant an ST badge.

0-60 isn't everything.  Sure it sounds good down the pub but give me the in gear punch everytime for normal road driving. If Fraud can get all that torque under control I'm certain it will deserve the ST badge. As for the pinnacle of the Focus range surely that's the RS not the ST?

You are right Peter with the remap it give 285 pounds of torque and a 3rd gear that takes you to 85mph so it does go well and it is also a lot lighter than a mondeo .

Is it the 2 litre donk with 160 BHP as standard you have?  Because Bluefin and the 160 looks very interesting.  :L

I have to disagree somewhat. 0-60 figures is what sells, amongst other things obviously. Sure enough it probably has good in gear pace and that's what a diesel is all about. In reality it'll probably be fantastic, but for me, on paper, it just doesn't cut it. Time will tell.

Assuming the TDCi version will be cheaper than the Golf TDi version, I daresay Mountune will have a tuning package available and it will still be cheaper and then faster.

Ini response to the thread title... No it won't. No Golf GT TDI owners will buy a Focus instead. I know 3 GT TDI owners and none of them would touch the Focus. Just saying.

'Mighty' Mondeo Mistral

1.8 litres of raw power - very comfy and fantastic at lugging mountain bikes around.

Porsche Cayman R

3.4 litres, 330 bhp, manual gearbox, carbon fibre bucket seats, switch-able sports exhaust, cornering lights etc etc

They've got a new Golf GTD in the fleet workshop at work ready to be stripped down. What a boring looking car, didn't look much different to a base model Golf to be honest.

The GTi is the same. They just blend in with every other Golf. I like my cars to stand out from the crowd.
