Diary of my car. Nothing major planned. Just hope to keep it clean and dent free.

2012

31/01/12..... Purchased car with 17,854 miles.
01/02/12..... Front wheels balanced. Showed up slight tracking problem.
08/02/12..... Got tracking done. Better but still not perfect.
14/02/12..... 4 wheel alignment carried out-all 4 wheels were out. Feels better but still shimmer from steering wheel. http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/
19/02/12..... Changed rear Ford badge.
22/02/12..... Installed Bluefin....... superb improvement.
26/02/12..... Smoke from under bonnet plus burning smell after a long high speed run. Most likely DPF - never occurred again.
07/03/12..... Serviced at 18,245 miles.
02/05/12..... 2 new Goodyear Eagle F1s fitted at 19,660 miles which cured the shimmer/pulling and car now feels transformed.

At the garage.

Same here mate. Even the rear end which I was never too keen on in the early days. One of those cars which looks better in the metal than in pictures.

Not too bad considering it's a heavier car and I have only done slowish commuting so far. Around 40. Will see what it reads once I can take it on a long steady run.

the mk4 is a big lump of a car all the same compared to the mk3

you mention on your first post about a bluefin what bhp would that put you out to is your new car the 200bhp model or the 175bhp am not sure on the 2.2 models

200bhp is some power for a diesel car i think is there much tuning mods out for the mk4

Mine is the 175. The facelift current model is the same engine but with 200bhp. Bluefin could take it to just over 200bhp plus a load more torque of course.

Neil I wish that was legal :}

them mk4s must be lethal on the motorway or even just for overtaking
you would leave some bmw drivers red faced when you pull away with out trying

Mid range is great in 5th and 6th gear. The weight doesn't matter once it's shifting but it shows around town etc.

i would say that might be a silly question but il ask anyway what would be the weight difference between the mk4 and the mk3
is there a brave bit between the two

Love the look of the car in silver, I have 58 plate black one just detailed mine, washed, clayed, carlack 68 then collinite 476 put on and looks awsome, mine has a lot more mileage 79000 but drives like new, just wish my front bumper looked as good as yours, up close mine has quite a few stone chips from its motorway journeys know doubt wonder what it would cost to paint, anyway i am looking at the bluefin to but thought anything after sept 2008 could not be done ???? my car was built 15/9/2008 wonder if i can bluefin that...?

Sorry mate just seen the above. It can be Bluefinned but if it's after a certain date you need to take it to Superchips to get it done.

I agree about the front end. There isn't a mark on it. In fact I was convinced that it had been repaired as it was like new but it's been examined and I am assured it's all original. Must admit I don't hand wax and polish my cars because they get covered in spray in no time so I just use a wash/wax and a rinse off then it's parked outside anyway so dries off naturally.
