Hi All

As some of you may be aware I purchased some alloys from a company called PXAlloys which some of you have previously used.

I received my wheels a few weeks after placing the order and they claimed many reasons for the delay. Upon receipt I checked these and found problems in the finish of the paint, one wheel being buckled to the naked eye and different year stampings on the rims which resulted in the alloys be slightly different to one another.

I contacted the company straight away and expressed my concerns and the response I received was not professional at all. They stated that I was being picky and that I have sent nasty emails which I did not, only emails expressing concerns over the delay and the service received as I was not being updated on the issues.

The company stated that they would have the wheels collected and upon return would offer a full refund, not issuing another correct set of wheels.

On Monday I emailed them asking when the refund would be issued and received no reply, I tried calling but no one answered. I emailed again on Tuesday and Wednesday and called many times but still no one is answering the phone.

So far the company has issued an amount of £386 but still owe me £54.

Can anyone offer some advice?

I have checked their website and no where does it state that they will retain an monies in the event of wheels being sent back.

Thanks

Grant

Send them a recorded delivery letter of complaint giving them 14 days to refund you. You would have to do that before going to your credit card company.

If it's a debit card then you would have to look at court proceedings to recover your loss but this is always a last resort when all else fails because the judge will look to see what efforts you had made first.

This is the letter ive drafted, is this ok:

Ref: Refund for Ford Mondeo ST220 18” 16 Spoke Alloys

Dear Sir / Madam

In December 2011 I purchased a set of the above wheels finished in Anthracite on various recommendations from very satisfied members of a car forum.

After some delay, the wheels were delivered on Thursday 10th January 2012. I inspected these as instructed to do so by yourselves and found the following issues:
  • Some minor paint runs on the spokes
  • Some minor excess paint blobs on the alloy face and spokes
  • Once noticeable buckle on one alloy
  • Two alloy stampings of 03 and two of 05 which when compared showed;
  • Slight differences in the alloy face
  • Different overall wheel width
  • Different outside rim beading thickness

In light of the above and previously being informed that the alloys would arrive with no defects, I called to start proceedings to rectify the problems. I was met with (in my view) an unprofessional member of staff stating that he knew this would happen and thought it would be appropriate to shout to fellow employees about who was on the telephone and that I was complaining. I found this to be quite rude but decided not to pursue the matter. After explaining my concerns, I was told that the alloys would be collected and a full refund would be made upon receipt of the alloy wheels.

I then received a call from a gentleman called Mike and we discussed the issues and agreed that the alloys would be collect later that day on the 10th January 2012 to which they did. The wheels were then delivered to your above address on Friday 11th January 2012 and sign for by N Alldick.

On Monday 16th January 2012 I emailed info@pxwheels.com enquiring when I would receive the full refund of £440 but I did not receive a response.

On Tuesday 17th January 2012 I checked my Barclaycard and found the only £386 was refunded and that there was an outstanding amount of £56 owed to me. In light of this I emailed again citing the mistake and requested that someone called to rectify it, however no one called.

On Wednesday 18th January 2012 I emailed again expressing my concerns over the outstanding balance owed to me and requested that this matter is dealt with urgency, however I still did not hear anything.

On each of the above days, I made many attempts to contact someone at PX Wheels on 01253 400 230 and 01253 400 130 without success which has led to this letter.

Upon receipt of this letter, I look forward to receiving contact within 14 days.

Yours Faithfully

I'm not wanting to make light of your situation, but the name of the guy who signed for them back at their place says it all really!

Its when you contact your card company to say you have had a problem transaction but obviously enquiries would be made or else we would all do chargebacks! Your letter is good and the correct procedure.

Give it a bit of time as it may do the job. If not then contact your card company for options.

They are obviously not a company to be dealt with then if they issue t&c which say you must accept faulty wheels that are not fit for the purpose!! Hopefully your card company will now take it up as you can show you have tried to resolve it yourself.
