Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

It's a turbo, 240PS 2.0 Ecoboost engine, The Mondeo gets the same engine in mainland Europe soon, we get it a bit later.

Why not just buy one and have it shipped over. Would probably work out cheaper anyway.

Because then he is buying a Vauxhall, not a ford and the hastle of getting it shipped over etc is a ball ache. Why cant Ford just produce a fast 4 door saloon, like most other car manufacturers in their price bracket.??? I seem to remember discussing this before with the outcome that "nobody will buy one". The thing is, they would but it. If people will buy a fast Vauxhall, people will buy a fast Ford.

I've fixed your misconception of what I wrote.
Just how many "fast" Vauxhalls do you see on the road on a regular basis? The number of people wanting to buy a high perfomance 4dr saloon not in the "prestige" niche is limited. The numbers do not make economic sense. This is why Vauxhall/Opel/GMC recently found themselves in financial doo doo having to ask governments for bailouts to keep them in business and Ford did not.

Anyone any update on the ACTUAL release date of the Focus ST yet?

I thought it was supposed to be spring 2012 from previous "releases" of info, but now it appears that Mr Ford in his wisdom has decided to put back the release of the ST back until "later this year" after "The Sweeney" is edited - so does that make it August onwards???

If you look at Ford's US site they suggest the "2013 Focus ST" being released late 2012 !!!! Given that Ford are supposed to be releasing the ST in all countries at the same time why are they delaying when clearly the car exists and has been previewed at the motor shows????

Having just sold my ST220 on the basis of the Focus ST being imminent, I'm clearly going to be a bit miffed if they are delaying........

Stop being a tease Ford and release the wretched car !!!!!

1.4i Fiesta - lovely little motor but not quite an ST - although surprisingly refreshing seeing the scenery after the ST220, there is only so long I can drive it for..... :)

Well had confirmation from my dealer that it will be late summer - why do Ford set up all the hype and then disappoint, originally the ST was to be released Spring - hence why I sold my ST220 having had a good offer on the basis of that.......having done a number of motorway miles in the (temporary) Fiesta, I can't wait until the new Focus is released so have now cancelled my pre-order and bought something totally different (non-Ford)

Sorry Ford, but you really do need to get both your act and your marketing together rather than spread hype and delay due to a film being made and generally mess customers about. Do what you say, but don't say something and then faff.

Something totally different - Mitsubishi Evolution X FQ-300 SSD - probably the most craziest thing I have done, but after a test drive last Saturday, those things really go, are fully loaded as standard with all the toys (including paddle shift gears) and seriously perform and handle as well as being 4wd with gravel and snow settings. Still wondering whether I have done the right thing I must admit, but I can have one now (pick it up early Feb) and it's a lot closer inside to how the ST220 is. Realistically if I was practical, I should have waited for the Focus ST.....but then I can always have one of them, the Evo X may be the last of the Evos'.....unknown....

I blame my mate who came round in his Evo 8 last week, threw me the keys and grinned........and then I started looking so have picked up a low mileage 2011 model......it's a shame I couldn't have driven a new ST before finally deciding, but the delayed date was the killer - I sometimes have to travel with work, and did a 200 mile round trip in the Fiesta last week - bless it it performed exceptionally well, but was totally exhausting to drive, one could have done with a car with a bit more weight......

If I'm perfectly honest though I've been looking for something to replace my ST220 for some time. The Focus ST in some respects was a compromise.....the Evo though is something else and performance apart in all honesty is a pretty good match for the ST220 in terms of comfort and options - in the Evo I think I've found what I have been looking for as a 'modern' Mondeo ST replacement (which the Mondeo Tit-X Sport wasn't in my opinion).

Only thing which is a bit "in your face" is the big boot spoiler.....would prefer it wasn't quite so obvious. Time will tell if I've made a big boo-boo or not, still my rationalwas I can always get an ST, I may not get an Evo, and it's a heck of a motor for the money.....

Nice one man! I'm a huge EVO fan and still plan on replacing the ST with one (hopefully late this year). Similarly I'd a mate hand me the keys to one - a V pushing out about 400bhp which had undergone some serious weight reduction. Let's just say it hit 100 quicker than your average 1.6 hatch is hitting 60. Between the acceleration, brutal braking and cowering power, the noise and the total sensory overload I was in love. It just demolished the road like you were in a PC game. I'd love to try one of the newer ones, though I still have my sights set on a V or VI as I prefer the old school ones I think. I'm in a different position though as I will only be using the car for fun really.

Anyway, nice one on the new car and get some pics up when you get it!
