This is just an update to the previous MK3 Mondeo Bluefin install guide.
After carefully considering the options currently available for the MK4 Mondeo I decided on the Bluefin remapping product for the following reasons.
I needed a product that can be easily removed by myself via handset prior to any servicing being carried out under warranty by Ford.
After having the Bluefin system on my previous ST TDCi for 42000k miles without any problems this was also a very big consideration.
The added advantage of having a DTC code reader and for all 06 Bluefin type handsets a new CANBUS DATA Logging application which should come in handy for monitoring future modifications.
Anyway onto to the installation..
I ordered my Bluefin yesterday (£391) and received it today via Citylink couriers.
The diagnostic port is located on the drivers side under the pull down compartment.
I plugged in the handset and started the procedure for remapping the car following the instructions on the graphic display.
At the end of the procedure the handset prompted me to "Install the CD Program"
I then went onto my PC and loaded the Bluefin Desktop software and carried out the registration information then plugged in the handset and clicked on "connect to superchips server" at that point the handset started to communicate with superchips and proceeded to download a file onto the handset.
I then had the message " Your Bluefin unit has been updated and is ready to program to your vehicle"
At that point I disconnected from the PC and carried out the install Bluefin command and followed the handset instructions.
During the installation I would advise not touching any of the cars controls other than the on/off ignition switch when prompted to do so.
On my installation I had 2 error messages appear on the GUI screen which cleared after the program had finished updating my vehicle.
My first impressions were WOW..! the responsiveness was very noticeable and the boost surge was definitely extended over the standard mapping.
