Hi All,
As a way of collecting information could you all please vote as to whether your wheels have, or have not, corroded since you have owned your car?
I am going to use this information to try and get Ford to admit that there is an issue.
Thanks to you all.

Hi,
Mine are not as bad as many I have seen, but they have corroded and so have the centre caps, pretty rubbish for a car which is not two years old yet. For the record, I have another car which has Wolfrace alloys which I bought in 1982, they have been out in all weathers, they have no lacquer and there is not one instance of corrosion on them. Proves it can be done hey?
Take care,

If anyone votes that their wheels have not corroded can they please popoutside and clean them and look for any white patches on them as i suspect that every car has corrosion to some extent, even the smallest amount.
I will start another poll to see if anyone has managed to have their wheels refurbished by Ford.

Mine have no white marks but 1 has started to bubble around the valve as if it were rusting? apart from that they are mint but i am on the second set and these are only 7 months old from Ford.

I had 2 wheels start after 14 months, Ford offered to pay 70% to start with towards a re-furb, after a few phone calls and me mentioning trading standards they offered 90%

Got this set for free as went into Ford with guns blazing, but i think if i went this time they would show me the door. My local dealer hides when i go in, especially the body shop.

Mine have corroded, but it is a common problem with diamond cut alloys (well fords ones anyway), i had a previous car that had the fiesta rs1800 wheels on (the early ones were diamond cut, later they went to painted), these corroded badly and even more quickly than the st\'s.

It\'s an issue with ST wheels and not diamond cut wheels. Only the ST seems to have this problem (I have not voted by the way so as not to corrupt the results). Ghia wheels have a DC finish and don\'t suffer the same problems. Mine are over 2 years old and basically mint.
The problem must have been with that particular supplier and I am guessing they are not making them any more and old stock is now being used up?

......Ford will of course use the trim warranty clause to get out of any responsibility.....

My dad has a 3 year old Golf TDI. The alloy wheels on this are painted but with a \'diamond cut\' rim section. Not a single sign of corrosion or going milky on any of them. I suspect that Ford have had the wheels made to a price not to a quality specification. Lacquer on a diamond cut surface will never be as good as a primed & painted surface for durability but less than 2 years before failure is not good enough. And mine yes failed & refinished in a bright silver painted finish.

i have come from an E46 M3 to st tdci estate and my M3 wheels were diamond cut and badly corroded but it did take 5 years for this to happen. my 18 month old mondy has 1 wheel corroded as the others have been re painted in silver to quite a good match.

Had one wheel re-furbed by the dealer before I collected the car. Came back as new but not sure who actually did it. I could probably find out if anyone was interested.
All the inner hubs are in a very sorry state and will need replacing when I get around to it.
Have voted, good luck with tying to get Ford to do something about it!

MIne are a bit tatty where they\'ve been scuffed agaisnt kerbs, one day I will take them off and get them refurbished by a wheel renovator, i think he wants £30 a wheel. Pressure washing the rims can bugger them up as the water gets behind the "varnish"
