I'm not sure if I am imagining this, but the brakes on my ST seem particularly numb when braking. Now I had an Alfa GT before my ST and that was very good on the brakes, not so good on everything else, but the brakes were good.
Now I know a common upgrade are the ASBO brakes, but I don't want to go down that route just yet.
The brakes on the car where supposedly changed just before I bought it. Now They don't have air in them, because they aren't spongy, they just seem to lack feeling. I don't know the compound of pad that they used so I am wondering if it could be just that, and if I replace them with something like Ferrodo's DS2500.
The only issue is that I don't really have the money at the moment to start replacing pads, when that won't be the problem.
They feel like the pads have worn out. Doesn't inspire confidence especially when it's fully laden and you are trying to haul it down from motorway speeds! But if you suddenly stamp on them the brake assist kicks in and you had better be wearing your seat belt
But in normal braking they do feel a bit soft I agree.
The only thing that helps me maintain my slender grip on reality is the friendship I share with my collection of singing potatoes.
My Ultra reliable beast of a car is 07 (E)state with 107K on the clock
List of woe:
knackered injectors fixed
egr valve buggered x2fixedx2
rattley crank pulley x2 (again)Woohoo on number 3 now!!
little fan by the left knee buzzing
Drivers heated door mirror isn't replaced mirror and now fixed
Temp gauge keeps dropping replaced oil cooler stat and fixed
Wearing rear tyres quicker than the fronts
Squeak from tailgate replaced door wedges and squeak gone.
A clonk from the back now FFS!
I just bought some Brembo front discs (high carbon) from BREMBOSHOP.COM for £46 and fitted them with the EBC red stuff pads I already had - they are still bedding in as I have only had them on 2 days but the bite is so much sharper than both the standard and EBC discs that I had (the EBC discs also warped and scorched all the way round the disc not good!!)
Will update further ont he Brembo discs once bedded in properly but so far no wobble (as I say the EBC discs were warped and annoying) and they are nice and sensitive. Probably not a patch on the ASBO's but for £46 and 1.5hrs to fit you can't complain!

Edit - Forgot to mention only had the EBC discs on just over a year and they have been warped for some time - maybe not the discs fault possibly my style of driving but I always use the handbrake at junctions etc. - either way the new discs have made a huge difference just with the same pads.
