i had one before the mondy st and i really cant fault the focus st's.
REALLY nice to drive long distances, and so much pull from seemingly 0 revs makes a back road blast proper good fun!
the fuel economy isnt as bad as the paperwork makes it out to be. the only time i really got mine low was when i had a stupid moment and tried it on with porche and had a (fully) laden car, uphill, and the wind against me lol it got down to 12.9mpg, but that was doing as much as the car could give.... which im sure you'll be aware is a bit above the limit lol
but yeah, top motors, and i'll either be getting another one or a mondy mk4 sporty one (but diesel), depending on where i get posted next (in the raf).
hope that made some help lol, i mihgt be rambling a bit owing to being knackered lol

I got my ST-3 2 weeks ago. It averages 22mpg, but i suppose i have been driving it unnecessarily hard as ive just got it.
Great cars. Better than I expected. If you drive normally, including motorway and town, you'll average close to 30, but if your lead foot like me, i'll be more like 18-20.

Had my st3 for 2 yrs, sadly got rid of it a few months ago due to rising fuel cost and averaging 19mpg round the town, also running a van at the same time for my business didnt help, really miss the car, the backfires from the exhaust, the way it pulls through the gears and the lovely full leather recaros, now own a mondeo st tdci which i must say is a great car to drive and the kit u get is not bad too, average 45mpg around town with bluefin and had 68mpg on motoway journey!!!!

Ive only had it 2 weeks and can safely say it is much better than i expected (apart from the seat creaking a little, but it is a Ford). I couldnt see myself swapping it for anything other than an RS in the future, but unfortunately the RS doesnt come in RED!!!, so it may be a cas of buying a white one and adding the full leather and spraying it.

It all depends on how many miles you do. I only do about 5K a year so it is not too painful! That said the BEST I have ever had is 28.7MPG. Have done some mixed driving this week, including one 70 mile trip where the mrs drove & am currently getting 21.8MPG. Ask yourself is this bad for a 280hp car???

I have had my ST for a few weeks now, and have averaged just under 26mpg, mixed driving. I hoped for slightly better, as I have been taking it easy, but am not disappointed because the car is such a pleasure to drive and you don't always feel you have to rag it..
I have previously had a Renaultsport megane 270, LCR, Evo, Scooby, M3 and M5 etc etc and with the exception maybe of the M5, the ST is the best place to be, so it's worth the slight downside of not great fuel consumption. Lack of cruise control doesn't help either - which for a car of this spec is surprising!
Overall though, great car, get one.
