well just had to go get some new alloys as i was run off the road yesterday by a tit in a range rover, had to put it into a ditch, completely shattered the alloy.

bought 2 new alloys, now need some tyres.

whats everyones recommendations for the mondeo ST?

i do about 35k a year, 50% motorway, I also spend time on the twistys, being up near the dales. so want some tyres that handle.

Hi st56, yes I think they are. They are the direction tyre not like the normal motorway cruising tyres. I find them really good and at £140'for 2'fitted it isn't bad.

I'm running Yokohama Advan Sports on the ST220... been very impressed. Quiet, and loads of grip. Not cheap though.

I really wouldn't try 452s. Fine in the dray but completely unpredicable in the wet. Understeer, oversteer, no steer, perfect sterr - you just never know what you'll get. Worst of all the tyres I've ever tried and by a good margin. In fairness they were okayish in the dry but there is better for the same money.

All depends on how much you have to spend.

I have Dunlops Sport Maxx on the front and they are very good, they cost £112 per tyre. But I have to admit the Michelin-Sport2 are the best tyres but £145 they are not cheap. I will get them again once the fronts are due to be replaced.

If you are doing 35k a year this means that you will be using 4 front tyres and 2 rear tyres.

But if you get some good rubber like Michelin they will last longer, saving money on the long term.

Problems - 6CD(done), cigar lighter(done), light on dash(done) and 4 bad wheels.

All STD at this moment and running on Dunlop Sport Maxx(F)fitted at 111k Michelin Sports(R) fitted at 107k

I'm looking to change my fronts. Currently have falken fk452's on there. They were not a bad tyre but they have only just managed a years worth of wear which for me is just short of 10k. Will definately be going for something different this time.

Ive got the same as you, Sport maxx on front, Pilot Sport 2 on the rear. Had pilots all round but i wasnt overly impressed with the wear on the front. Finding the Dunlops much better. Be amazed if anyone gets anywhere near 35,000 out a front set of any make on an ST though.
Standard 05 ST TDCi in Performance Blue with small scrape on OS of front bumper, thanks the wife

16 Spoke alloys- badly corroded
Heated half leather seats- 1 working, 1 not (Why didnt they fit recaro's anyway??)

Best I've had was 23k on the fronts ( conti ) and thats all motorway work. I do about 35k per year.

I only buy Michelins now and wait until Costco have a special offer on, usually £110 fitted inc vat.

ps. It will be interesting to see how the same tyre wears on my citroen c5 doing exactly the same.

Hi m8 I do the same milage and driving as you a year,I have Toyo Proxes T1R all round the rears fitted on 07/08/2010 for £229.25 and the fronts fitted on 21/12/2009 at £224.38 the milage when the fronts were changed was 45.384,milage now on 62.827 I should see 20k plus easily.Had P Zeros before they were ok till after 10k then they were crap really noisy and no grip in the wet,the Toyos are awesome in the dry and brilliant in the wet hope this helps.
